New website is launched!

I’m thrilled to introduce new website sayuris.com!

One day my husband Jose said “I have a gift for you”. He gave me new business cards with a new website address, the one where you are reading this now.

We used to talk about how the first website was not mobile friendly, things about updates and security, and other points we needed to fix. Jose and his friend David secretly created this site and surprised me. He likes surprising me.

To be honest, at first I had mixed feelings about the surprise. When he did it I didn’t feel the new site was an urgent change needed to be done. Some of the reasons we discussed were a little too technical to understand – Jose is in the marketing and analytics industry (joseuzcategui.com) and David is an analytics implementation consultant (thynster.com) – and thinking about the changing the site while working, a parent of young kids and the pandemic was a little too much. But as we improve detail after detail, I am now very happy with the new website.

Also, a new logo design is also here! My friend Fumiko, a professional graphic designer and CEO at ShootingStar.LLC, helped me.

I deeply appreciate the time, efforts and skills spent on Sayuri Designs.

You will notice I didn’t change the brand concept or style, but the change is very refreshing.

Thank you so much for all of you, especially to Jose, David and Fumiko.

Exploring in Europe’s Jewelry Scene

We went to Europe for a business / honeymoon trip!

Our journey started in Amsterdam where we stayed for a week for my husband’s work and continued another one week in Bordeaux (France) and San Sebastian (Spain) for our honeymoon.

While he’s working in Amsterdam, I explored the city’s big and small shopping areas as I planed to find small boutiques to introduce Sayuri Designs jewelry. I tried walking and finding boutiques that would inspire or carry the same type of necklaces, bracelets or hand made pieces that were similar to my style.

During this time I was able to talk to many people in the city.  People were very nice and friendly and straightforward. I found out many items in boutiques where I visited were mostly from all over European countries.

My husband who is good at talking gave me some tips of how to introduce Sayuri Designs. I had great chatting because of that. Glad that I got great feedbacks about the catalog from some stores. It was fun and very fresh. I really hope we can find stores where we can work with in near future.

Beautiful city Amsterdam

By the way, during this trip I got inspired by the great painter, Van Gogh, who happens to be Dutch. The Van Gogh museum showcasing his works during the 10 years he worked as an artist were pretty impressive. That’s one of my favorite museums.  Check it out when you visit Amsterdam.

I was also very inspired by adorable displays of sweets shops in Brussel, Belgium. It is such a wonderful sweets land. Sweets like chocolate, waffles, candies, macaroons… they are such great displays that everything looks both cute and delicious. I also noticed this with jewelry, they have their own recognizable style of display that makes everything look gorgeous.

Below are some photos from the trip.

Tokyo Palette ‘Clear’ event

Sayuri Designs participated in an event called Tokyo Palette ‘Clear’ in Daikanyama, on the last day of this Golden week, May 6th. It was our first time to join an event in Tokyo, and it went very well.

I was able to meet other talented designers, potential clients, and had a really good time overall. Preparing for this event, however, was a little challenging – in a good way.

The collection made for this event is “resin” based. I thought it would be a good fit since the theme of this event is ‘Clear’.
The items are limited, and the prices are great. I’m very happy to be able to meet some of our customers and other designers!!

Many designers are participating in this event including my good friend otana. It’s going to be fun! I’m so excited about my first event in Tokyo after coming back from Vancouver♫
